Sizing
The right unit depends on pool volume, surface area, wind exposure, target temperature and whether you use a cover. An undersized pump runs constantly and never reaches temperature; an oversized one costs more than it needs to.
Inverter vs on/off units
Full-inverter models adjust their output rather than switching on and off, which makes them quieter and more efficient — important on a terrace where you want to relax.
Use a cover
Most heat is lost from the surface overnight. A cover dramatically cuts that loss and lets a smaller heat pump do the job.
Run it on solar
Pools are heated during the day, which lines up perfectly with solar production. Scheduling the heat pump around your generation keeps running costs close to zero and can extend your season from spring to autumn.
